Bloody good idea though - I'll add that function as soon as I get a chance. Once it's in, I'll tell you how to enable it..

1. Crispian, don't forget to set up the SoulGood chat forum while you are at it, the banner across the top, the SoulGood limited edition computer game, the SoulGood merchandise range (including orthonodontic sandals : P), the SoulGood high horse, the SoulGood range of food products for the lactose intolerant... "SoulGood on your cereal...", the SoulGood widget, the SoulGood anti-trance device, the SoulGood book about the history of everything called "Last Night SoulGood saved my life"... that will keep you busy for the next couple of days.

2. Mongobonix - Another name for Mr Choo Choo Romero. My preference is his tune "I will" featuring Inaya Day (c2000). Basically same choon as one of Mr Choo Choo's releases on Beats Vol 1 or 2... I used to drop the a capella of "finally" by Kings of Tomorrow (Sandy Rivera) over the top of it and people used to freak, especially at the Scumby in Waymouth. Not sure why the choon me referred you to is called Mongobonix - probably a mistake by Juno crew... not the first time.

3. We all love sax - Tim Deluxe c2001: wikkid sax track that competed for sax track of the year with Let it Ride - Sgt Slick (Mobin Master Rmx). Very noisy and loud track, best result is to key mix it given the "short arrangement" at the end being not facilitative of the typical Fragos 10 minute mixes.

4.The Fresh FM studio is cramped even if one person is in there, given the size of everyone's ego (Bill and Mobin are no exception). You'll be fine..

5. As for Mongobonix being spoken every "5 seconds"... just do a re-edit in true Mobin Master style. Grab the track, run it through Logic or similar, chop it, craft it, stick it, add a couple of filters, bounce it, burn it and bob's your mother's brother.... and the geezer who usually says "izold!" will then say "rrrrrrremix!"

6. Going shopping at "suburban" record stores (I assume MTME Blair Athol) doesn't help your condition young Ben! Those vinyl pushers will try and sell you anything. Tell Moskva to get in some CDJ 800s or 1000s, and we'll sort you out (and vice versa) with some decent "izold" stuff... may save you a quid or 2.

7. See you in the studio!

Re: 2 - Cumby! What goes on down there these days? Has the whole Cumby vibe shifted to the Kings Head? I used to like that place...kinda like a house party in someone else's house.

Re: 6 - Those guys down at MTME are like dealers giving junkies a cheap fix. It's not quality but it gets you through the day. Still, he only charged me $7.50 a pop. Cheap and nasty.

I'm still figuring out how the new release section down there has trashed vinyls covered with more fingerprints than the LAPD check in desk...and torn vinyl covers...not to mention numberous price tags overlapping.

Re: CDJ 800s - Has Soulgood had the whole 'CDs versus Record' debate? Could be up there with the 'DJing as an artform' thread!
I suppose we could extend the debate to 'CDs versus Records versus Final Scratch'.

Let the war begin.

Re: 7 - I'll email you on that @freshfm email soon. Sunday nights though I'm involved in a amatuer drama group...and we're working a bit overtime at the moment. Yes I'm a thespian too.
Please don't tell anyone.

Ben James.

Mobin and I used to play at the Scumby all the time until mid-last year. Unfortunately, times change and maybe it is not as good as places like Moskva, Garage, Savvy.... haven't been too Scumby for a while, and Kings Head has so much potential if only the set up was right....

Ben, don't waste your money, I'm sure Mobin, Crispian and I will be able to sort you out with some choons... $7.50 way too much, when you can get it for free (take two!)... and many of their new releases are not new releases... still you might get lucky and find a rare gem, but come shop with us first

If you have listened to SoulGood over the last year or so (in particular the interviews) you will note that we usually ask our guests the question of vinyl & cds. Many internationals: Martin Solveig, Armand van Helden, Roger Sanchez, Junior Jack, Kid Creme and other superstars Mobin Master, Mark John and Supafly/Amen UK tour with predominantly CDs. The consistent comments are:
1. It is not the format but how the music sounds.
2. Pioneer (CD 800, 1000) and the new Technics CD player are awesome and replicate what turntables do, plus more (like looping, then half looping, then quarter looping to great effect).
3. Touring with CDs allows you to tour with well over 10 times the amount of music.

Note: I interviewed Armand about this recently and hopefully the interview will be aired soon.

Personally, I own a CDJ 1000 and love it. I do not like (at all) the Pioneer series released prior to the 1000 or the 800, purely given their inherent ability to skip and stuff up and the lack of appropriate features.

Final scratch is a good idea, but the platform is not stable and the program does not allow the music to be manipulated to my liking. The quality of the output is not that great either.

I much prefer doing what Mobin specialises in; making re-edits of favourite tracks and playing them out on CD. Martin Solveig specifically mentioned doing this too when we interviewed him earlier this year.

My thought is that it is useless to describe the discussion as a CD vs Vinyl debate as it misses the point - it is about the music, the quality of it, being able to access it and being able to promote it and rinse it to the massive. As Joey Negro says, "Must be the Music..."

How can you be amateur and a thespian??? Thespian hey.... don't Thespians come from somewhere in Greece? Thespia? It's all Greek to me... I won't tell anyone...

I went through a Cumby phase...although I just remember seeing Ezee-G, Josh, and Scott S I think his name is... you guys came after that group? It was a while ago...maybe over a year ago.

As for getting tunes for free - do you mean playing them on CD or Promos?

thes·pi·an    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (thsp-n)
adj.
Of or relating to drama; dramatic: thespian talents.

It doesn't make reference to amatuer or professional...just talents! Hrm maybe I fail on that account.

Enjoy your weekend guys. I'll enjoy mine! My 15 new tunes just arrived from Juno today! Yay!

Ben James.

Mobin & I were there before and during the Ezee G and Scotty Sheridan "era" - we tend to claim it was "Mobin's" era.... early 2002 - mid 2003. on the subject of Scott S, he's an awesome DJ... like him as he's not afraid to experiment, plays wiikid choons, is lactose intolerant, and finds percussive house choons that I don't even know.. maximum respect. Unfortunately haven't seen him play for a while *mental note*. ... aah those were the days!

Bring some blank cds... tho' Mobin has a massive collection of promos for sampling with some wine

Thespian's are accomplished actors - new dictionary required....

www.dictionary.com was the culprit. Can't I be accomplished without getting paid for acting? I'm a veteran of two...yes TWO Adelaide Fringes!

Ok time for my pre-night out nap.
