It's not everyday you meet someone in your life that makes you reflect upon your own life, but today i met someone that made me reflect a little...
The owner of the corner deli, near to where i live is a middle aged, married man, who seems to be quite content with processing groceries for customers as an occupation. He's ALWAYS cheerful and happy to be of service be it to the little boy that wants 2 red snakes, 1 green frog and 5 freckles, or to the adult that wants lunch, a drink and the paper. So happy is this man that EVERY single time you leave, he wishes you a "terrific" afternoon. Sometimes, if you're lucky he'll wish you a "fantastic" afternoon. If you are anything like me, you frequent the 'corner' deli a lot. Now you could sympathise with me in saying this gets incredibly annoying after a while. The deli man is practically praying you have a terrific afternoon so you feel like you must respond with something appropriate. A mere casual "thanks" as you race out the deli just seems rude. AI KARRUMBA!!
Today the deli man said to me "Have an outstanding afternoon!"
Hmmmm
Today i didn't let it annoy me. I pondered on the thought that this man wasn't actually doing it to annoy me but because he actually enjoyed serving customers in his little deli. I walked away thinking if i could be half as passionate about my occupation as he is about his deli life, things wouldnt be so bad...
I hope you all have an outstanding afternoon :p
ps. no pansy ass payouts please
