First and foremost a big thank you to a one Bill Fragos for his mention of my efforts at the Vodka Bar (Moskva), in Edition 2 of the new and highly credible street mag Twenty4Seven.
For those of you who don't know, Bill listed Paul Glenn (Electric Circus), Professor X (Savvy) and myself Ben James (Vodka Bar) as 3 individuals to catch up on some up-front house in a decent environment on a regular basis with. Taking DJing very seriously (and yet also having lots of fun at the same time) I appreciate the compliment. Bill has influenced my style of music (especially in the early days) and then more so, as I've matured in my DJing, in my attitude to house and 'spreading the word' so to speak - in relation to sharing house music, and a passion for new and upfront house sounds...so you have Bill to blame if you hear me whinge 'that came out 3 weeks ago dude'. ;)
Thanks to Bill: it's a compliment coming from one of the highest souces in terms of house knowledge and appreciation in this little town called Adelaide.
And now on to the music! Well personally I haven't been that inspired by a lot in the last 7-10 or so days...but praise the lord I stumbled across some quite exciting new releases (and promos) today in my online shopping.
So if you're out and about tonight after Mobin's set at Savvy (see front page for details) and want to party on, I'll be playing these tunes and others in my resident 2am-5am set tonight at the Vodka Bar.
Physics - The Most Beautiful Boy In Brazil (Playmaker Remix)
Chroma - Twilight (Emjay & Steviesole Baracus Mix)
Andre Harris - Get Down Africa (Main Mix)
Annette Taylor - Faith (Copyright Dub)
Mojo Project - Tell Me Why (Kiki Navarro Funk Explosion Mix)
Punkrok feat. Katherine Ellis - Get Dirty (Vocal Mix)
Kokolo Afrobeat Orchestra - Mister Sinister (Faze Action Vocal Mix)
Hope to see you all out on the dance floor this week, apologies to those who came in last week as my set was sub par due to extremely poor health.
But tonight...it's time to party!
Enjoy Mobin's set tonight guys and hopefully I'll see you on the D-Floor dancing to myself and BOS on live sax in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.
Peace, Ben James.
