Hi Guys, I thought I'd drop you a line and say hi. Great to see Adelaide is right on the cutting edge of house music. I'm sure Martin Solveig is gonna rip shit up on Sunday. I run a shop in London, and you guys are getting tracks the same time I am. Nice work Soulgood... My plea for help: Does anyone have sound bytes they're willing to share. I'm studying sound engineering and need any sounds to in Logic eg. kicks, snares, synth sounds etc. The college I'm at has given us some lame sounds to use. Also, does anyone know where I could download a cracked version of Logic 6 for mac OSX from? Thanks...

My top 5 tunes at the shop this week are:

  1. Africanism Vol 1 & 2 (nuff said!!)
  2. DEA - Music is my Life (wicked Robin S re-rub)<
  3. Zero 7 - Home (Ben Watt mix for those that like it deeper)
  4. Gaudino - Singin La La (pumped up Pete Heller "Big Love" sampling houser)
  5. Rasmus Faber - Divided/United (remember Ever After..)
  6. Soularis - Dont Change (for the soulful house lovers)
  7. Stephane Malca - Revolution (Mike Monday remix...a fave of mine from last year gets a repress)
  8. Sebastian Leger - Grab my Hips (block the girls ears for this XXX vocal thumpin houser)
  9. Movearo & Alun H - All Over My Face (funky..)
  10. Sami Dee - My Will to Survive (this vocal houser has been around for a few months but it still kicks)

Hi Johnny. I took the liberty of reformatting your post so the list shows up properly. Thanks for the compliments! We can't help you with cracked software, as that's obviously illegal and we here at soulgood are nice, law abiding citizens. I'm sure the dodgy criminal elements on those ugly P2P networks like kazaa, edonkey etc will be more than happy to help you break the law, but we'd urge you to reconsider and to purchase the software for yourself and support the fine people who produce it..

As to the sound-bytes (samples!), you'd have better luck prying rare vinyl from a DJ than getting a producer's samples :-) The best way to quickly obtain a decent library of samples is to buy a few of the sample cds which are available. There are ones tailor made to particular music styles (House, Garage, Tribal etc), and they contain the core sounds that you'd need and some useful loops and fills too. I remember not long ago that a bunch of these came up on EBay for not much money.

Best of luck getting your budding production career off the ground! Thanks for the chart too - we're always on the lookout for track reviews, charts etc. We'd be very grateful for event reviews and photos too, since we don't get the chance to pop over to London too often ;-)

Johnny Kaz!

With the Leger track who has done the remix? I remember it came out last year but wasn't that tough at all... obviously be re-done?

By the way the S Malca track came out in 2001. I believe that Alex Neri did a remix way back then that was not bad. I belive Mobin & Soul Good was rinsin a version last year which is probably the M Monday mix....
