Title: Never Again - Kathy Brown Label: Defected
Along with Lisa Millet, Loleatta Holloway and Jocelyn Brown, Ms Brown has supplied many diva tracks over the years that fit into the “woman wronged” US Garage/ Vocal House genre. “Never Again” is more gentle that the usual big vocal offerings, but that is not a bad thing. Never Again begins with typical and nice beats that we are used to from Defected, in comes the bass line, chords and vocal bits and then the first breakdown. Staple house diet. Main vocals come in and then way we go - a lovely groovy track that does well in the early set (and/or some late sets). Brass is nice and used without overkill. Nice solo too. Nothing really outstanding by Ms Brown; her vocals are great as always and the production/arrangement is good too. Nice typical Defected/Kathy Brown track.
